Join artists Stephen Shaheen and Eva Lansberry in the Skizum Studios Art and Design Oasis at 135 Plymouth, # 209… Groove to the subtle music of Dj Skizum while experiencing Steve’s compelling and virtuoso stone sculptures and drawings alongside Eva’s trippy millinery and gossamer felting pieces and Scott Bolden’s edgy My America Too project. Enjoy a glass of wine with the East River just below you and the Manhattan Bridge above; the upriver NY Waterfall and Manhattan skyline across the way complete the scene. We hope to see you there!

Stephen Shaheen:

'Winter's End' by Stephen Shaheen

Stephen Shaheen is a New York-based artist whose works range from drawings, paintings and photography to his most recent specialty: stone sculptures and drawings on stone. While classically trained with an MFA from the New York Academy of Art, Shaheen’s works have an abstract and modernist bent, translating the figure into groundbreaking expressions of the human condition. Prior to his attending the Academy, he received his professional certification in stone carving from an EU two-year training program in Serre di Rapolano, Italy.

Stephen Shaheen is currently an Adjunct Professor at City College of New York; he is also the Director and Sculpture Instructor of Tuscany Study, an intensive summer course based outside of Siena. Shaheen is also president and artist of the Memoria Project, a not-for-profit entity dedicated to the design and installation of a 100-ton marble and granite landscape installation honoring the all the lives lost on September 11, 2001. He is a sought-after speaker as an authority on both stone sculpture and public art.

Shaheen is currently working on commissions both in New York and Italy, with the installation this fall of a 12-foot expressionist marble bench in the exhibit Arte Senza Confini in Milan.
